Dress Like A Teacher Day

The class earned a "Dress Up Day" because they earned 1,000 bee bucks.  Students brainstormed all ideas for a dress up day and then voted.  "Dress Like A Teacher" received the most votes.  Students came to school on Friday, January 29 dressed like a current teacher or dressed like themselves as a teacher.  They all looked AWESOME!!!  They made and wore nametags for the day and it was only fitting that students hung out in the "Teachers' Lounge" for a bit.  Check out some pictures from our fun day.

Here is Max dressed as Mr. Pons posing with Mr. Pons!!
Check us out in the Teachers' Lounge.
Looks like Abby and Aurora are intersted in the pop machine.
This is how they think teachers look at the end of the day in the Teachers' Lounge.  :)

Valentine List

Be on the lookout for the list of student names coming home with your child.  This will help in filling out Valentine cards.  We don't want anyone to be left out.  Our Valentine party will be Friday, February 12 at 2:00.

Jump Rope for Heart will also be on Friday, February 12 from 12:30 - 1:30.

Classroom Responsibility

One of the choices, after filling a sticker chart, is to take care of our class pet Myrtle for one week. It is the student's responsibility to make sure she has fresh water and food daily.  She has been very well taken care of this year.  Isaac says she is so soft and it is his favorite thing to do!!  He loves to feed her hay out of his hand and pet her.

Camp Out With A Good Book

2nd grade celebrated Family Reading Night on Thursday, November 19 with the theme of "Camp Out with a Good Book".  Second grade families were invited to come into school to enjoy activities centered around Language Arts. When families arrived, they had an opportunity to have a photo taken as a keepsake.  They rotated through four different stations.  The campsite was full of tents, books, and a campfire.  They read under the stars while enjoying a snack.  Each student and his/her family created a handprint fire craft.  The hallway was filled with games centered around sight words and vocabulary words.  Families also read clues on mystery bags and made inferences as to what camping item was inside each bag.  "Camping Out With a Good Book" helped make reading a fun adventure.
