Final Transformation and Release
It was a bittersweet day in second grade today. The beautiful butterfly emerged and with some reluctance, the second graders released it. We watched as the wings dried and also as it fluttered its wings for the first time. Here are a few pictures from our exciting morning.

Chrysalis Update
Not too much change has been happening.......however, if you look very closely you can see lines on the chrysalis. Those are the lines on the wings of the monarch. It won't be too much longer!

Not much change
It looks like maybe there is one more gold dot starting to appear on the chrysalis. Otherwise not much change over the weekend.

Amazing Transformation
One of the students brought in a caterpillar on Monday and it is perfect timing as we are getting ready to discuss animal life cycles in Science. After the students left school on Wednesday, the caterpillar began shedding its skin and evolving from the "caterpillar that once was" into the "butterfly that will be". This is a super exciting time for us in the classroom. Look closely and see if you can find the chrysalis.

Visit from Erie Cardinal
We were excited to have an opportunity for a quick picture with the Erie Cardinal on August 21, 2015. We had a picture snapped with the entire elementary school and then we had a great chance to "hang out" together!!!
