Bird Beak Challenge
Second grade has been discussing animal adaptations in Science. They have been learning that animals have different parts on their bodies to help them live in different areas of the world. Today students were challenged to create a bird beak to pick up as much "feed" as they could. They were able to use materials such as pipe cleaners, plastic spoons, plastic forks, toothpicks, unsharpened pencils, straws, popsicle sticks, and tape to name just a few. They were able to try out their beaks and then make any changes they felt necessary. Students came up with some very creative ideas.
